“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:30-31
As we follow the news reports about Ukraine, it is difficult to grasp the challenges that face the young people of Ukraine. Some voluntarily joined the military to defend their country. The youth in Ukraine, are facing a very uncertain future. What can we do to strengthen these young people who have spent more than three years dealing with trauma as a result of the current war? Where can they find hope?

OBI has supported an annual English camp for Ukrainian teens over the last 20 years. OBI teams have taught English and shared the Gospel at a camp where many young people have learned or improved their English skills, made American friends, and most importantly, accepted Jesus as their Savior. Their hope is built on nothing less than a trusting relationship with Christ alone-just like the words of a well-known hymn.
Supporting this English camp is one way that YOU can help us give these youth hope for the uncertain future they face. Last year, a team of 27 Ukrainians and Americans living in Ukraine taught English and God’s Word to 50 Ukrainian young people. There were five teams composed of 10 campers, a translator, a Bible teacher, and 2 English-speaking teachers. Lessons are in the morning after exercise, flag ceremony, breakfast, and praise and worship. Afternoons are spent preparing skits, team activities, games, and crafts…lots of interaction and time to make new friends. Americans and Ukrainians share their testimonies. The last night includes a worship service and call for repentance. Last year more than half of the campers came forward and prayed. Lives were changed.

Below is an example of one of the positive reviews and thanks from a parent written last year.
“Thank you to everyone who donated funds for Ukrainian teenagers from military families. You have done a very great work for God and for people under the stress of war. Remember us in prayer after the camp and in the future, so that the campers will come to God and to the church, and as it is His will, through us.”
Former campers are serving the Lord in numerous ways. Some are pastors and youth leaders. Others are serving in the military. Most of Valentyn’s team are former campers. Young Ukrainians are being equipped to make a difference in the challenging time ahead.
Please join us by supporting this year’s English camp by praying for:
· Safety of campers and staff.
· Strengthening the faith of those who are believers.
· Encouragement as they face the future.
· God’s Word to touch hearts and open eyes to His truth.
· Changed lives.
