Global Family Support was set up in November 2022, in response to a request made by Zhanna Segeda, leader of the military Christian women’s ministry in Ukraine. Ladies in various clubs were asking for help providing joy at Christmas for military families. The war had begun less than a year before. They wanted support so they could hold events to share Christmas messages and a few treats with wives, mothers, and children in military families. Additional funds were approved for funds in the spring for Easter/Mother’s Day events and for a summer training retreat for leaders of the clubs.

There are close to twenty clubs throughout the country, and even in places where they have fled due to the war. Clubs focus on various areas such as women and children, wounded in hospitals, and refugees. They reach out to others to provide much-needed fellowship and encouragement. These gatherings meet physical and spiritual needs with fruit, treats, visits, and even music for wounded soldiers in hospitals, all sharing the Gospel message. They make camouflage nets, knit socks, and gather needed supplies to send to soldiers at the front. Each club is unique. Zhanna and her “right hand,” Galina, travel to many meetings each month to provide inspiration.
The leaders are women of different Christian faith groups, united in their love of Jesus Christ and their love of Ukraine and for each other. They pour into this ministry with their time and financial resources from OBI. They partner with their churches and other organizations, such as Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.

Each month on Monday, these ladies pray together on a Zoom call in spite of shelling, lack of electricity, or other challenges. On the first Monday of each month, a small group of American sisters join them to share a brief message from Scripture. Then Zhanna leads in prayer and encouragement…about 25 sisters in Christ praying for the needs of individuals and clubs.
Please support these faithful, resilient women as they share the message of resurrection and hope in the celebration of Easter. They are committed to sharing more than the traditions of the past. They seek to proclaim the message of the resurrection and God’s love for each of them.
