Sven Olson, or “Sveno,” is a retired military diplomat who served at four US Embassies across his 27 years of uniformed service. After retiring from the Army in 2013, Sveno served as a Foreign Affairs Officer for the US State Department in Washington, DC, and as the director for home health hospice services in Southern Arizona. Currently, Sven is an Adjunct Professor at Grand Canyon University at the College of Nursing and Healthcare Administration. He has a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy/International Relations.
Sveno is a gifted communicator, leader, and volunteer youth leader. Now a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, he volunteers in the Ukrainian American community, and his family has sponsored several Ukrainian war refugees through the “United for Ukraine(U4U)” program. He is married to his Ukrainian wife, Iryna whom he met while serving at the US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine and has adopted their daughter, Katya from Ukraine. He also has two sons, both of whom have served in the US Army, and one is still serving as a Captain in the Washington Army National Guard.
