Meet LT Colonel (Ret) Noel Dawes

"Lt Col (Ret) Noel Dawes retired from the British Army after 30 years of service in 1994."
 
Noel has command, staff and operational experience at all levels of national, joint and international military organizations and served in many different countries. His background as a leader and trainer of soldiers is complemented by time spent instructing on the faculty of the UK and Ghanaian Infantry Schools, the Ghana Military Academy, and in computer simulation development. Noel enjoys reading, keeping up to date with current affairs, and was a keen dinghy sailor, skier.

Noel and his wife, Meryl are closely involved in a ministry outreach to military men and women suffering from combat and other trauma. Noel leads a ministry team for inner healing retreats of the Welcome Home Initiative© at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, Greenwich, NY 12834. Meryl coordinates quilt gifts and is a listener. This Initiative aims to bring restoration, welcome, comfort, understanding and relief to Wounded Warriors, and their families, including Chaplains, suffering from soul and moral wounds from war duties in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan and many others, including the home front. Many Wounded Warriors suffer in body, mind and spirit and many are diagnosed with PTS/PTSD and TBI. In addition, Noel helps bring restoration to others by facilitating a "Healing the Wounds of Trauma" Bible study discussion online and in person.  Noel and Meryl also mentor others seeking to live according to biblical standards. And they are deeply involved in healing prayer ministry; and advise about reconciliation and conflict resolution.

Noel’s work with ACCTS (www.accts.org) is to coordinate a ministry of care and support to military Veterans including Chaplains. Noel is also endorsed as Lay Commissioned Chaplain in the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

 

Married for over 52 years, Noel and Meryl have two married adult sons. They live near Albany, New York, USA. Noel and Meryl have several grandchildren who they frequently visit in the US and England.
